ABOUT ME
FILMMAKER . WRITER . DIRECTOR
Simret Cheema-Innis is a writer/director from London UK specialising in erotic sci-fi horror.
Most of her work is viewed through a sparkly-beautiful, yet macabre lens of a vivid nature and her close relationship with London’s nightlife, specifically inspired by the counterculture gay and fetish scene.
Her film Newborn got the attention of Horror Noire: A History Of Black Horror producer Ashlee Blackwell, who named her as one of the black female directors to look out for. Newborn was also listed in the Radio Times, and included in the Ax Wound Film Festival VHS anthology special run by Magnetic Magic Rentals.
Simret has written and directed international documentaries Voodoo Hoodoo and Gris Gris and Passione Aurea. She's also written/produced/virtually directed eyewitness-style documentaries for Youtube channel StoryTrender and Snapchat Channels The Positivity Fix and Beast Seekers.
2024 has seen the completion of her high-concept film From Me To You, an erotic sci-fi body horror, that’ll led to her debut feature film, working title Imagined Grace.
Simret continues to write and direct visceral, queer, kitsch, phantasmagorical films, striving to provide a boundless and explorative perspective of cinema within the macabre.
